Hi Michael
Okay, so you’re off having a life and all. Not sure when you’ll be checking the forum.
I’m editing my first show. Part of my exhortation: email me to let me know you’re out there…but not just me, any ‘casters whose shows you like.
Figured I’d better put my fingers where my mouth is. Or something like that. So I’m getting a “hey, I’m out here digging ya” to you and others whose shows I’m listening to and enjoying.
Have to resort to your forum cuz…YOU”RE NOT PROVIDING AN EMAIL OPTION (ya bastid).
Re your Podcasting is Dead rant:
Yeah, the corporate bastids will take repurpose their content and, by being willing and able to pay for it, take over the front page of iTunes, the Top Whatever Number lists, etc.
Pisses me off, too.
And sheeple will subscribe to ‘em. And use up the few hours a week they can spare on casts by listening to them. Not listening to us. Not finding us.
Mostly.
But sites like Podcast Pickle and others will enable those who’re motivated to do so to find indie content. Hmm…maybe some kinda podcast wiki will emerge? Damn, that idea’s so good maybe I shouldn’t post it. Also so good it’s probably been (or being) done.
I worry about the day when iTunes says “no more free ride” to indie content.
Okay, now let me introduce myself.
I’m a professional clown (yes, really), living in London, Ontario, Canada. I work about 100 days a year. Leaves lotsa time for listening to (and now making and promoting) my own shows.
Dual Canadian/US citizen but never lived down ‘dere.
Born in Korea to missionary parents.
There. That oughta do it for now.
Keep it up.
Bruce
PS Haven’t donated yet, but another bit of advice I’ll be doling out is “Podtithing”. Pick out your favourite x number of podcasts. Figure out what you can conveniently but realistically afford. Divvy it up and donate. Or buy a t-shirt or whatever.
